Mother and grandmother, a two-time emigrant, a traveler in search of family roots (and not just her own), author of two books: “She Simply Disappeared” (Chicago, 2015), a collection of stories about her late daughter, the artist Justyna Pałka — about her work, thoughts, and essays from her studies at SAIC — as well as “She Simply Disappeared. Unsent Letters to My Daughter” (Evergreen, Chicago 2021), an attempt to say goodbye to her child and to rediscover her own self after a tragedy. It is a story about life — in all its facets and colors.
